About the event
Saturday July 13 2024 will see the launch of The Barbel Club
A barbel fishing event under the stars, overnight on the Hampshire Avon, at the famous Royalty Fishery
Presented by Klips Baits in association with South West Lakes Trust & Davis Tackle.
The Event Rundown
Arrival & Fishery Walkaround
Arrival time is from 7.30am Saturday morning at the Royalty car park to give you time to take a walk around the fishery to see which designated swims look interesting to set up for the night and fish.
So the earlier you arrive the more time you will have for a wander around to try and find some fish!
The Swim Draw
10 am @ The Rod Room. (all anglers to report by 9.55am and ready to go with your gear by your car)
All guests will draw a ticket from the hat with a position on it to see who gets to walk off to their swim area choice first, second, third ect down to the 25th angler to set up for the event with a head start of the next angler.
Fishing
You can use any tactics & baits you desire within the fishery rules.
Fishing will start at 11.30am Saturday July 13th once all anglers are set up and ready to go but pre-baiting is allowed from the minute you get to your swim of choice if desired.
Competition
To give the event a bit of an edge but purely for fun there will be prizes for the following categories.
The Biggest Barbel
A FREE days fishing @ The Royalty fishery Great Weir the Parlour Pool or the Punt at Bridge Pool courtesy of South West Lakes Trust plus A Klips Baits voucher for £100.
Most Barbel Caught
Most Barbel Caught A Klips Baits voucher worth £50
The Booby Bream Prize
For the biggest bream will get a £25 Klips Baits Voucher.
Evening Meet & Greet & Prize Draw 6pm The Boathouse
Drinks and light snacks will be provided and the charity draw will take place from 6pm if you wish to attend at the boat house to have a nibble and natter amongst ourselves about the anticipation of night ahead for 45 mins approx.
Charity Raffle for a Custom Rod Rebuild by Gilo Bespoke Rods
We will be holding a charity raffle at the event for a full custom rod rebuild thanks to Giles @ Gilo Bespoke Rods with tickets priced at £5 each.
The proceeds will be going to The Salvation Army with to help the local homeless and will be on sale at the event during the day.
The draw will be hosted by "Old Father Thames" himself and former Anglers Mail journalist Bill Rushmere who is a patron for the charity locally at the meet and greet at 6.30pm.
So please grab a ticket if you can afford it and get that old favourite rod of yours rebuilt by an expert custom rod builder.
The Rules
Please stick to the designated swims and areas.
Fishing starts at 11.30 am for all guests and stops at 6.30 am the following morning.
Each angler can use 2 rods if they wish.
Any style tactics are permitted to be used within the fishery rules.
Bivvies' or shelters and bed chairs are permitted.
Bite alarms must be kept to a reasonable audible level if used at night.
Please photo all captures of fish caught on your landing mat or in person for proof of captures and help the angler near you if asked.
Anglers & bivvies' packed away by 7am.
Respect the fishery neighbours and keep noise down at all times.
You will be locked in overnight with no exit from the fishery after 9 pm until 7am the following when the fishery re-opens.
You must have a valid coarse fishing licence but no membership to club waters are required to purchase a ticket.
Tickets & Tackle
Tickets are priced @ £25 per angler available on a first come first served basis and all barbel enthusiasts are welcome to join us.
A non fishing guest is welcome with you Tickets £10 as long as you are travelling together due to the amount of parking spaces.
Davis Tackle
Will be open from 7.30am for anglers requiring fresh maggots, bait & tackle.
Toilet facilities are at the boathouse and will be open all night with secure overnight FREE parking for all guests at the Royalty carpark.
